Talbot is a camera. Looks are stocks. The library is the Darkroom. If something does not take, start here, then email.
Common questions
The viewfinder is black, or Talbot asks for the camera.
Open iOS Settings → Talbot and allow Camera. The live look needs the camera. Photos and the microphone are requested when you save a still, a Live Photo, or a clip.
The saved photo does not match what I framed.
Stills, Live Photos, and clips are cropped to the 3:4 viewfinder before the stock runs. If a shot still looks off, check you were not in No Stock, and that RAW is not standing in for the developed look in Photos — the developed JPEG is the visible image; RAW is the alternate negative.
Live Photo will not turn on, or RAW disappeared.
LIVE and RAW cannot run together. Turn one off to use the other. Live Photos are photo mode only. The wiggle is developed through the same stock as the still.
Invent from a description does nothing.
The prompt path uses Apple Intelligence on the device. It needs a supported iPhone with Apple Intelligence enabled. Inventing from a reference photo works without that — it reads the tonal fingerprint on-device, with no model.
How do I share a stock?
Open the Darkroom, open a stock’s data sheet, and share a .talbotstock or export a .cube. Incoming files open in Talbot and file in the Darkroom.
Where do shots go?
Developed photos and clips save to your Photos library. The Contact Sheet shows the Talbot album once Photos access is granted. Nothing is uploaded to us. There is no Talbot cloud.
