Talbot is built so your pictures never need to leave the phone. This page describes what the app handles and why.
Data we collect
None. Talbot does not collect, transmit, or sell personal information. There is no account, no Talbot server, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no tracking.
Data stored on your device
The app stores, only on this device:
- Invented stocks you keep (name, look parameters, optional reference JPEG) in a local SwiftData store.
- Preferences such as grid, flash, Live Photo, capture mode, and starred stocks, in Apple’s UserDefaults.
Deleting the app removes this store. There is no Talbot cloud copy to erase.
Camera, microphone, and Photos
Talbot uses the camera to show a live developed viewfinder and to capture stills, Live Photos, and video. It uses the microphone for video and Live Photo audio. It reads and writes your Photos library so it can show the Contact Sheet, attach a reference photo when you invent a stock, and save developed shots.
Frames are processed on the device. Developed JPEGs, Live Photo pairs, video, and optional ProRAW files are written to your Photos library. We never receive them.
You can revoke each permission in iOS Settings → Talbot.
On-device intelligence
Inventing a stock from a text prompt uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models where Apple Intelligence is available. Inventing from a reference photo uses a local tonal analysis with no model. In both cases the prompt or photo stays on the device. Nothing is sent to us or to a third-party AI service.
Sharing you initiate
If you share a .talbotstock, a .cube LUT, or a photo through the system share sheet, that file leaves the device only because you sent it. Talbot does not upload shares on your behalf.
This website
These pages are static files. They do not set analytics cookies and they do not include third-party trackers. When you email support, that message is ordinary email.
Children
The app does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
Account deletion
There is no account. To remove local data, delete invented stocks in the Darkroom or delete the app. Shots already in Photos stay in Photos until you delete them there.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version is posted at this URL with a new date.
